Life is so hard sometimes…but it all comes down to the simple saying, “Life is what you make it.”

It’s so true. If you walk into a store with your significant other or a best friend, and you see a woman yelling at her screaming children, walk by and someone doesn’t move out of the way for you, etc, there are different ways to handle it.

For example, with the yelling woman and her screaming kids, you can either roll your eyes, huff and puff, complain, and let it get to you the whole time your there (even when they’re no longer in sight or earshot), or you can make a joke about it, and have a good laugh.

With the person who didn’t move out of your way, you can say, “EXCUSE ME! Ugh, how rude!” and possibly start a confrontation, or walk away mad and in a bad mood. Or, you could just simply walk around them and leave them with a quick sigh, and that’s that. Go back to that joke you were telling your partner/friend. Continue your conversation and forget about that little tiny, microscopic incident that had the most unimportant role in your life whatsoever.

Why do we let the little small things affect us so much? In this short thing we call life, we are here to enjoy….to not take for granted our everyday abilities to wake up, get dressed, eat, work, go to school, have fun, sleep.

Some people can’t even do those things on their own, and yet they seem to have a better outlook on life than most people. How is it that someone who is confined to a wheelchair is more full of life than a fully abled athlete? Not saying that the person in a wheelchair being full of life isn’t a great thing, it’s wonderful. I’m just saying that it angers me to see people who are so lucky, and healthy, and have all the ability in the world to be happy, yet they look for all these reasons to complain, and wallow in their self-created sadness.

I myself have been guilty of doing that. And I’m tired of it. I’ve been trying to be better about it lately, but I’m tired of still falling back into the old routine of getting sucked into the sadness that I ‘think’ is my life. My life is good. I have so many things. I have family and friends that love me, I have a job, most importantly I have my amazing fiancé, who brings more happiness to me than I ever thought possible. Yeah. I owe the government money. Yeah, I have more bills than I really have income. Yeah, I have some health issues. But most of that is all of my own doing, so I need to be the one to do something about it….I need to be the one to motivate myself and others.

Life is what you make it, and not only am I going to make mine a great one…I’m going to help others make their own lives great as well.
